System solutions create new, cost-effective possibilities in the electrical machine installation.
Unfortunately, considering the technical possibilities that increasingly smaller and more efficient automation components provide, the potential savings of installation costs in the machine, plant and instrument building are often underestimated. With a skilful project planning in the run-up, there is a possibility to save up to 30 per cent of the costs by producing in economically sensible quantities.
By concentrating on their core competences, the machine builders were able to increase their efficiency in many fields in the last years. It has become quite normal to have products from mechanical parts to complete electrical switch cabinets manufactured externally. The external production of complete electrical and fluid-technical machine installations, on the other hand, is often avoided. A main reason for this is that the cost-saving potentials are enormously underestimated. It also seems as if machine builders have not yet recognized the possibilities that modern service companies can provide with appropriate “Plug & Play” solutions. Such companies offer everything from one source: from complex project planning to professional assembly of the installation components to solutions of complex logistical tasks.
The conventional method:
In realizing the machine installation with the conventional method, a lot of departments and people are involved in the process, excluding the installation staff, in order to guarantee a failure free product. These are the purchasing department, planning department and of course the consignment and stock department which have to buy, control and move a lot of installation components. It is nearly impossible to avoid wiring errors during the installation. Very often these mistakes do not appear until the engineers want to start the machine for the first time. Finding and repairing these mistakes doesn´t just take a lot of time, but also often damages whole control units, which causes additional delay and costs. Regarding these facts, there is a high potential in saving costs by using plug and play solutions.
